Lyndhurst Grove,
Peckham Rye
PROJECTS / In Progress
We were appointed in late 2016 to tackle the awkward spaces and poor provision of accommodation in this 4 storey end of terrace Victorian property in the Holly Grove Conservation area in Peckham Rye.
We obtained a significant planning permission to take down an existing rear extension, and replace it with a two storey rear extension. We also secured consent for a three storey side infill extension in a narrow gap to the adjoining house, as well as a larger dormer window to the existing attic level. The key to unlocking the site’s potential, was moving the staircase to the lower level into the new side extension, thereby opening up the floor levels to create more internal useful space.
The tall thin facade to the infill extension is finished in a narrow format black brick, with complimentary charcoal concrete feature banding to delineate the floor levels. Tall slot windows provide private daylight to the new cloak room and en suite, as well as offering contemporary separation to the host and neighbouring properties.
At the rear, a contrasting softer dark timber clad finishes the two storey extension. Both extensions are topped with a wildflower roof.
