Beulah Hill,
Crystal Palace
PROJECTS / Completed
Appointed in January 2019, this is the first phase of work to this detached house in Crystal Palace. We removed the roof, gutted the first floor removing all the internal walls, and removed the staircase. This much demolition paved the way for the upper floors of the house to be completely replanned and reimagined.
We moved the front door and staircase allowing us to maximise the potential of the loft. Though simple in materiality and construction, the shape and geometry of the staircase, coupled with the height and volume of the stairwell, makes for a dramatic centrepiece to the house.
A wonderful master suite occupies the new loft level. The bedroom has a small inset roof terrace, and the large sliding doors give the illusion of living in the trees. A dedicated walk through dressing area, and generous bathroom make for the perfect master suite.
Externally the materials and finishes were simple and echoed the original materiality of the house. Internally the palette was generally clean and muted, save for the handrail and master bathroom highlights.
The project was delivered on time, with less than a 4% contract overspend.
