Apartment Refurbishment,
Chelsea
PROJECTS / Completed
In late 2016 we won an invited competition to reconfigure and extend a double fronted duplex Victorian apartment just off of the King’s Road in Chelsea. The owner had recently purchased some adjacent storage space and we imaginatively replanned the lower floor to incorporate this new floor area into the flat.
Key to the design was moving the staircase, simultaneously rationalising the first floor and unlocking the potential of the lower floor. Our client trusted us and project engineer Blue Engineering to deliver a stunning statement staircase constructed in steel, concrete and timber.
The lower ground floor was completely stripped and the floor replanned around the staircase. A statement master suite featured a 2.6m high marble wall with walk in shower concealed behind.
We also knocked together and lowered the pavement vaults to create a wonderful wine cellar in reclaimed brick and solid oak. Throughout the house we designed and detailed beautiful fitted joinery in stained walnut.
