A Victorian Co-operative village shop transformed into a new three bedroom house, with Cowper Griffith LLP.

Tucked away at the back of the original shop, we created a hybrid courtyard house – part contemporary, part historical refurbishment. The kitchen dining space is housed in what was the barn at the back of the shop, with the old ventilation cowl transformed into a glazed lantern. A series of extensions to the back of the shop created additional bedrooms, living accommodation, a formed the courtyard.  A second, less formal garden sat beyond the house, giving the living room a dual east-west aspect.
