Ashley Gardens

We were tasked with a full house refurbishment, upper floor and rear extension to this 1930s property, to bring a tired house back to life for a new family. We gained planning permission for a simple but considered full width contemporary rear extension, featuring a palette of stock brickwork with dark zinc contrasting details.

  • Simplicity and minimalist design were key to our brief, and in a rare treat for us, we also designed and specified the elegant kitchen. Our aim was to reconfigure much of the existing space, converting the garage and providing additional utility space across the ground floor. The roof was fully rebuilt and converted with a partial hip-to-gable alteration, with a rear dormer to create a generous master suite on the new upper floor.

The practice managed stages 1-4 before the client ambitiously and successfully oversaw the build independently, with minimal input from us! It was completed in 2020.
