Peckham House

This 1950s infill terraced home in Peckham, South East London, had been home to our client for 8 years before she approached us. Our thrifty, design-minded client was keen to have a home that better suited her eclectic furniture, craft, art and fashion collections, while also providing entertaining spaces and a quiet, peaceful haven at the top of the house.

  • We were appointed in 2018 to fully refurbish the property, with an additional loft storey for the master bedroom suite, and a ground floor extension to open up the rear of the home, with expansive kitchen diner, utility space and ground floor wc. Our client was keen to blend unique and distinctive design decisions with her rear garden: we took this on board to embrace our darker side!

Our black and grey rear facade incorporates anthracite zinc and glazed black bricks framing the internal oriel window and sliding crittall-style doors on the ground floor, with charred timber cladding paired with zinc on on the top storey and the roof.

Internally, we made bold design decisions, combining plywood with polished concrete, beautiful parquet flooring, and liberal use of colour and pattern throughout. The Pluck kitchen injected colour and intelligent design elements, complementing our client’s interior design vision.

On the upper storey, we combined reclaimed timber floorboards and simple brickwork with a very contemporary plywood staircase. And of course, that incredible free-standing bath with gorgeous views over the rooftops of South London! Our client loves to sit up there with her afternoon cuppa, watching the clouds scud by…

The build completed on time in October 2021 in just 8 months – an impressive achievement for a full house refurbishment and extension. if you’d like to check out the process, our wonderful client kept an instagram diary of her renovation journey – head over to My Peckham Home Reno for more details.
