Elmwood Road
We were appointed in spring 2021 to overhaul this large terraced house in South East London in need of a full refurbishment. Our clients wanted a fun, functional, connected space for their growing family. Working closely with the designer owner, we developed a colourful series of alterations that created flow from house to garden, and increased the space in the upper floors by adding a home studio.

By remodelling the existing uninspiring side return extension and reorganising the ground floor, we created the spacious living area the family so badly needed. True to our sustainable values, we opted not to extend at ground floor level. Instead we actually reduced the ground floor footprint, using ingenious structural design to “float” the first floor bay window above it. At loft level, we extended the main roof space to create a home office with panoramic views, clad in a coloured zinc.
Working carefully with the joiner and our client, we designed copious fitted furniture throughout the house, each coloured and styled to suit the room and the member of the family who'd be using it. Playful details, curves and colours gave the project its personality and resulted in a bright, bespoke family home.
