Every so often a project comes along that gives you goosebumps at the first consultation. This was definitely one of those! We were commissioned in 2018 to design a replacement low-energy dwelling on a stunning site on the edge of the Bromley green belt.

We developed a scheme that sunk the majority of the accommodation into the hillside to open up the views of the valley beyond when you first arrive at the site. You’re greeted by a modest timber clad cabin in the woods. It’s only when you descend into the larger lower level that the contemporary element of the house is revealed.
The house was approved in June 2019 at the first time of asking. Representing a 134% increase on the original house size, the consent is a remarkable achievement for the practice. Sadly the client let the permission lapse but we hope it’ll come back…one day.
